SATURDAY 06 APRIL: Birding in St Lucia. Meet at the Parks Board parking lot for 07:00. (If you are not sure where that is, go past Wimpey to the roundabout, bear left & the parking is about 300m down on the left hand side). Two birding walks: • Walk the iGwala Gwala forest trail, which always surprises or • Walk the beach/Estuary in search of waders. (Still sightings of the Oyster Catchers around). Thereafter we will enjoy breakfast (at own cost) at Wimpy, before those who want to make a day of it can cruise Eastern or Western Shores (make sure to pack a picnic basket).

SUNDAY 07 APRIL: Birding in Mtunzini: Meet at Fat Cats for 07:00. (Those not sure, meet at the entrance to Zini once through the toll at 06:50 latest). We will then head to the Umlalazi Nature Reserve. (Bring your Rhino Card for free entry) or pay a small entry fee. Bird Club experts will lead walks to various areas within the Park in search of recently sighted birds. Socialise with us and get to know each other at a bring and braai at the picnic site. Stay the day and enjoy.

* AGM & 21st CelebrationAGM & 21st Celebration

AGM: 18:30 – 21:30 at uMhlathuze Civic Centre Auditorium 1. AGM will start at 18:30 promptly. It will be brief to cover the necessary administrative issues. 2. Birdlife South Africa (BLSA) CEO, Mark Anderson, will share with us on a National perspective and the importance of being a member of BLSA and the money needed for conservation projects to protect our birds into the future. 3. Renowned Ornithologist and author of the Roberts Bird Guides will share with us insights into “Rare and threatened bird species of the Richards Bay, Mtunzini and Eshowe area of KZN”. (Hugh will also very kindly autograph any copy of your Roberts Bird Guides) 4. Socialise and network (with snacks and cold drinks) in the dining area of the Civic Centre.
